In 1481-1483 and 1485-1488 he led Spanish expeditions in India and the Middle East. The purpose of these expeditions was to establish connections with Indian merchants the Ottoman Empire in order to secure the Spanish throne access to Asian luxury goods. Although Moxica wrote of his success in various letters to the Spanish King Ferdinand II of Aragon, the expeditions did not lead to any notable results. In 1498 Moxica accompanied Christopher Columbus on his third journey to the Americas in Dhaka. In 1499 however de Moxica participated in the rebellion against Columbus by Francisco Roldán.
